NEW
URBAN ERA ARTISTS AT THE DULUX LETS COLOUR PROJECT
New Urban Era was proud to take part in the
Dulux ‘lets colour’ project that took place in Stoneydelph Tamworth staffs
17/21 September 2012.
Organised by Neil mushrow, of the Arch
community development centre Stoneydelph. The project brought together local
volunteers and staff from Premier inn to paint parts of Crossfell and Ellerbeck
on the Stoneydelph estate using 300L of paint donated by Dulux as part of their
lets colour campaign and was overseen by charity group Ground works UK.
Wanting to bring more to the project Neil
contacted local urban arts group New urban era to bring a artistic flair to the
project .Working closely together a mural was designed to represent the
bringing together of the community. This involved 212 local school children
making butterfly shaped hand prints around the mural.
A centre piece was
painted of Catlin Riley and Ian James Morgan Murphy from Stoneydelph and three
peaks schools holding hands whilst making the butterfly hand shape together.
The mural was painted by artist Title.
New
urban era also brought artist Steve Edwards along to the project to add a
modern edge. Steve painted two tigers to represent the strength of the
community using camou style
Wanting to add some fun to the project N.U.E
drafted in artist Binty who painted her very colourful chicken characters which
will be bringing a smile to young and old people alike.
New urban era spokesman Vic Brown added “ The
art work may be the focal point of the project but does not overshadow the hard
work all the volunteers put into the project keeping to a very tight schedule
so all surfaces where painted on time. Neil worked very hard to bring his
vision to reality and brought the local community together with great success
